10-Point Assessment

Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Fillers in St. Johns Town Center Jacksonville: Natural Volume, Diagnosed Right
What Hyaluronic Acid Fillers Correct and Who They Help
Here's the thing about hyaluronic acid filler, it only fixes what volume loss caused. So the first question we ask isn't where do you want filler, it's what changed. Thin lips that were never full to begin with respond differently than lips that lost shape after your 30s. Cheeks that look flat from bone structure need a different plan than cheeks that hollowed out over time.
- Lips that have thinned, lost definition, or feel uneven from side to side
- Cheeks that look flatter than they used to, especially under the eyes
- Nasolabial folds, the lines running from nose to mouth corners
- Marionette lines along the jaw and chin that make a tired look worse
- Jawline softness where filler can restore a sharper, more defined edge
We see this every single week, someone comes in pointing at their nasolabial folds when the real issue is cheek volume pulling everything downward. Fix the cheek, and the fold softens on its own. That's the kind of thing you learn from doing hundreds of these, not from a menu.
Not every line on your face is a filler problem. Fine surface lines, sun spots, and rough texture come from skin quality, not lost volume, and filler won't touch them. If that's your main concern, a treatment like microneedling or a HydraFacial does more for skin texture than any filler ever will.

Matching the Right Filler Goal to Your Concern
Not every face needs the same thing. That's the part folks miss when they search around online. Someone comes in pointing at their cheeks, someone else points at their mouth lines, someone else just wants their lips a little fuller without looking obvious. Nine times out of ten it's the same conversation, just a different starting point on the face.
We break it down by what you're trying to fix, not by chasing a trend you saw online.
- Volume loss in the cheeks or under-eye hollows, this calls for a thicker, structural filler placed deep near the bone.
- Lip size or shape concerns, this calls for a softer filler built to move naturally when you talk or smile.
- Marionette lines and nasolabial folds, this calls for mid-depth placement that softens the fold without changing your expression.
- Fine lines and skin texture, sometimes this isn't a filler question at all, it's a skin quality question we'll flag.
Jawline softening or a smoother chin profile? That's a different injection depth and technique than lip work, and we'll walk you through which one fits before anything happens.

We look at your bone structure, your skin thickness, and how your face moves before recommending anything. A flat recommendation without that step is a guess, not a plan.

When Filler Is Not the Right Answer
Not everyone standing in our Southside office needs a syringe. We say this a lot more than people expect.
If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, filler waits. There's not enough safety data, so we won't do it, no matter how good the deal sounds. Active skin infections or breakouts near the treatment area are another hard no until things clear up. And if you've had a reaction to hyaluronic acid before, we need a real conversation first, not a quick appointment.
Some folks come in wanting filler when what they need is volume loss addressed a different way, or they're chasing a look filler can't give them. A patient who wants their whole face changed usually needs a bigger conversation than a lip or cheek appointment can cover. We'd rather tell you that up front.
- Pregnant or nursing, filler is postponed until later
- Active infection, cold sore, or breakout at the injection site
- Known allergy or past reaction to hyaluronic acid products
- Unrealistic expectations that filler alone can't deliver
- Bleeding disorders or blood thinners without medical clearance first
So does that mean you're stuck? Not necessarily. Sometimes the fix is timing, sometimes it's a different service entirely, sometimes it's just a real conversation about what your face needs. Nine times out of ten, once we talk through it, there's a path forward, it just isn't always the one you walked in expecting.

Preparing for Your Filler Appointment
A little prep goes a long way with filler. Most of it is simple, but skipping it can mean more bruising or a longer recovery than you needed.
We'll go over your goals at your visit, but there are a few things worth handling before you walk in the door near Point Meadows.
- Skip blood thinners if you can. Aspirin, ibuprofen, and fish oil raise your bruising risk. Talk to your doctor first if you take these for a medical reason.
- Cut back on alcohol for a day or two before. It thins your blood too, and it dehydrates your skin right when you want it plump.
- Come with a clean face. No heavy makeup needed, it just gets in the way during marking and injection.
- Eat something beforehand. An empty stomach makes some folks lightheaded during injections.
- Skip other facial treatments that week. Hold off on peels or laser if you've got one booked, we'll help you sequence it right.
- Bring reference photos if you have them. A photo of your lips five years ago tells us more than words sometimes can.
Plan your calendar too. Bruising and swelling can show up for a few days, so a lot of people book on a Thursday or Friday to have the weekend to settle before work.
We'll walk through your medical history and what you're hoping to change at the appointment itself, no need to over research beforehand.

What Happens During and After Treatment
Here's what happens once you're in the chair. It's shorter than most people expect.
- We clean the area and mark out your treatment zones based on what we talked about in consultation.
- A numbing cream goes on first, most fillers we use also have lidocaine mixed right in.
- We inject the hyaluronic acid dermal filler in small amounts, checking symmetry as we go.
- We massage the area to smooth it out and make sure the product settles evenly.
- You get a quick look in the mirror before you leave, so you can see the result right away.
Most appointments run under an hour. Lips are usually the fastest, cheek and jawline work takes a little longer since we're layering product to build structure.
Swelling and some bruising are normal, they usually calm down within a few days. We tell every client the same thing, don't judge your results in the mirror that night.
Give it about two weeks before you decide how you feel about it. That's roughly how long it takes for swelling to fully resolve and the filler to settle into its final shape. In the meantime, skip intense workouts for a day or two, avoid extra sun exposure, and go easy on alcohol the night before and after your appointment.
Some soreness or firmness is normal for the first week, especially around the lips. If you notice anything that seems off, like unusual color changes or pain that's getting worse instead of better, call us right away instead of waiting it out.
