Restylane® KYSSE™ near Ponte Vedra Southside Jacksonville: Fuller Lips That Still Move Naturally
What Restylane® KYSSE™ Treats and Who Asks For It
Here's the thing about lips. They don't just lose volume as you get older, they lose shape too. The border gets fuzzy. The upper lip flattens out. Fine lines show up right above the mouth, especially in people who've spent a lot of time in the Jacksonville sun over the years. Restylane KYSSE is built to answer all of that at once, not just plump things up.
So who books this? We see a real mix. Some clients are in their late 20s or 30s and just want more definition, a crisper cupid's bow, a little more presence without looking done. Others are older and dealing with that flattened, thinning look that happens naturally over time. And a good number are people who tried a filler somewhere else years ago and didn't love how stiff or unnatural it felt when they talked or ate.
- Thin or flat lips that lack a defined border
- Vertical lines above the upper lip, sometimes called lipstick lines
- Uneven lips where one side is noticeably fuller than the other
- Lips that look fine at rest but flatten out completely when smiling or talking
- A cupid's bow that's lost its shape over the years
One thing we hear a lot during consults: people are worried they'll end up with that overfilled, duck-like look. That's a fair worry, and it's a common one. This filler is formulated to move with your lip instead of sitting stiff on top of it. That's the whole point of it existing.

Choosing Between Restylane® KYSSE™ and Other Restylane Lip Formulas
So here's a question we get a lot. If Restylane makes several fillers, why does KYSSE get picked for lips so often? Good question. Restylane Refyne and Restylane Defyne are built for smile lines and softer facial folds. They flex with your face when you talk or laugh, that's their whole job. Lips need something different.
KYSSE uses XpresHAn Technology, a gel structure made specifically to move with the lips instead of holding them stiff. That's the difference. We've had clients come in after trying a firmer gel elsewhere and telling us their lips felt heavy or looked flat when they smiled. That's a formula mismatch, not a bad outcome from filler in general.
On our menu you'll also see Juvederm Lip Filler and Revanesse Versa Lips. Each brand builds its gel a little differently, but within the Restylane family, KYSSE is the one built for lip movement and natural color transfer. Refyne and Defyne aren't wrong choices, they're just built for a different job on the face.
Not sure which formula fits your lips? That's exactly what a consult is for.
- Want lips that look fuller but still move naturally when you talk or smile: KYSSE is built for that
- Want to soften nasolabial folds or marionette lines: Refyne or Defyne are the better fit
- Coming from a stiffer filler experience and wanting something softer: ask us about switching formulas at your visit
The right pick depends on what your lips need, not just the brand name on the box.

When Restylane® KYSSE™ Is Not the Right Choice
Let's be honest for a second. Restylane KYSSE is not for everyone, and we'd rather tell you that now than after you're in the chair.
If your lips already have a lot of natural volume and your real concern is fine lines around the mouth, a filler might not be the first move. We'd probably talk about microneedling or a peel instead. If you've had a bad reaction to hyaluronic acid fillers before, that matters too. Tell us. We ask about this at every consult, not just once.
Pregnant or breastfeeding? We hold off. That's standard across the injectable world, not a rule we made up. Active cold sores or an infection near the mouth also mean we wait until things clear up. Skin needs to be calm and healthy before a needle goes anywhere near it.
There's another group we see a lot: people chasing a shape that filler can't give them. Nine times out of ten, someone wanting a dramatic structural change, not just softness and shape, needs a conversation about realistic expectations first. We'd rather have that talk up front than let you walk out unhappy.
And if you're on the fence about downtime because of a big event tomorrow, that's a real concern worth planning around, not brushing off.
So if any of this sounds like you, that doesn't mean the door's closed forever. It just means the timing or the treatment plan needs adjusting first.

Preparing for a Restylane® KYSSE™ Appointment
Getting ready for Restylane® KYSSE™ is simple. Most of the prep happens in the days before your visit, not the morning of.
We tell every client the same thing before lip filler. Skip blood thinners you don't need for a health reason. That means aspirin, ibuprofen, and fish oil, if your doctor says it's fine to pause them. Alcohol thins blood too, so skip drinks the night before. This one step cuts down on bruising more than almost anything else you can do.
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before your appointment
- Skip aspirin, ibuprofen, and fish oil if your doctor allows it
- Come with a clean face, no makeup needed but it's fine either way
- Eat a normal meal beforehand, don't come on an empty stomach
- Tell us about any cold sore history so we can plan around it
Cold sores matter more than people think. If you've ever had one near your mouth, the needle work can trigger a flare. We ask about this every time, not because we're being cautious for no reason, but because we've seen it happen. If that's you, we may suggest an antiviral beforehand.
During your visit at our Southside location near Point Meadows, we'll walk through your goals first. Fuller lips, softer lines, more shape, you tell us and we map it out. Numbing cream goes on before anything else. Most people relax once they realize how little it hurts.
Bring a photo if you have one in mind, not to copy exactly, but it helps us understand your taste. Some clients want subtle. Others want real volume. Either way, we build the plan around your face, not a template.
Plan for zero downtime, but don't book a big event that same evening. Swelling peaks in the first day or two, then settles.

What Happens During and After Treatment
Here's the part most people ask about first. Not the results, the actual appointment. So let's walk through it plain and simple.
- We start with a quick consult to look at your lips and talk about the shape you want.
- A numbing cream goes on and sits for a few minutes. Restylane KYSSE also has lidocaine mixed right in, so the injection itself feels far less sharp than folks expect.
- Your injector places small amounts along the lip border and body, checking symmetry as they go.
- You'll get a mirror check before you leave. Small tweaks happen right there if something looks off.
- Ice goes on the lips before you walk out the door.
The whole thing usually takes under 30 minutes. That's it. No sedation, no recovery room, you're back to your car on your own two feet.
Now, the after part matters just as much. Your lips will look bigger than final right away, that's just swelling and it settles over the next few days. Some bruising shows up too, especially near the corners of the mouth. Nine times out of ten it's mild and covers easily with a little lip balm or gloss.
We tell every client the same thing. Give it a full two weeks before you judge the final shape.
Skip the gym that day, avoid alcohol the night before and after, and stay off aggressive lip products for 24 hours. Most people are back to normal routines, work, dinner out, photos, by the next morning.
