10-Point Assessment

Health Coaching in Baymeadows Southside Jacksonville: A Data-Driven Path to Real Results
What Health Coaching Solves
Most people who sit down with us aren't lazy. They're tired. They've done the 5 a.m. workouts and the diet apps and the supplement rabbit hole. And the scale barely moved, or it moved and came right back.
Here's what we see almost every week. Someone loses fifteen pounds, feels proud, then gets a DEXA+ body composition scan and finds out a chunk of it was muscle. That's not a win. That's a slower metabolism dressed up as progress. Without a baseline you can't tell the difference, so you keep repeating the same mistake with more discipline.
Health Coaching fixes that by measuring first.
These are the patterns we run into over and over:
- Eating "clean" but still gaining, because the calorie target was a guess and RMR testing shows the real number is different.
- Crashing at 2 p.m. every single day, then blaming sleep when bloodwork points somewhere else.
- Losing weight on a GLP-1 but with no plan to protect muscle or hold the result after.
- Visceral fat sitting high while the mirror looks fine, a risk you can't see without a scan.
- A workout routine that never changes because nobody's tracking whether it's working.
Our Southside studio near Point Meadows sees a lot of desk-bound professionals from the St. Johns Town Center corridor. Long commutes, catered lunches, gym membership they use twice a month. Their problem isn't information. It's that nobody's holding the thread with them.
So we do. You get numbers, you get a plan built off those numbers, and you get someone checking in before the plan falls apart - not three months after.

Health Coaching in Baymeadows Southside Jacksonville Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
- How do I know if I need a health coach?
- What happens during my first health coaching session?
- Can I do health coaching while I'm on a GLP-1 medication?
- Why am I gaining weight even though I eat clean?
- Is it normal to feel exhausted every afternoon even with good sleep?
- How do I decide between health coaching and just seeing a dietitian?
Deciding If Health Coaching Is the Right Fit
Let's be honest about who this isn't for. Some folks don't need health coaching at all. If you already know exactly what to eat, you sleep seven hours, you train four days a week, and your labs came back clean - you don't need us. You need to keep doing what you're doing. We'll tell you that to your face.
There are also times to wait.
- You're in the middle of a medical workup. Get answers from your physician first, then build the plan around them.
- You just started a new prescription. Give it a few weeks so we can tell what's the medication and what's the habit.
- You're moving, changing jobs, or in a crisis month. Coaching works on consistency, and consistency needs a floor under it.
- You want a meal plan and nothing else. That's a dietitian visit, not a coaching relationship.
Now the other side. Health coaching earns its keep when you've tried on your own and the results don't stick. You lose ten pounds, you gain twelve back. You feel tired at 2 p.m. every single day and nobody's told you why. Your bloodwork is technically normal but you don't feel normal.
We see this every single week. Someone walks in, sits down, and says the same thing - I'm doing everything right and nothing's changing. Nine times out of ten they're guessing at one key number. Resting metabolic rate. Visceral fat. VO2 max. Once we measure it with RMR testing or a DEXA+ body composition scan, the plan writes itself.
Not sure which camp you're in? That's pretty common. The fastest way to find out is to get measured before you commit to anything long term.

When Health Coaching Isn't the Right Starting Point
Let's be honest about who shouldn't book this.
Health Coaching isn't medical care. If you're having chest pain, sudden weight loss you can't explain, or a lump you just found, you need a physician today. Not a plan. Not a coaching session. A doctor. We'll say that out loud to anyone who walks in with those symptoms, and we'd rather lose the appointment than slow you down.
There's also a group of people who already know exactly what to do. They sleep seven hours. They walk daily. They eat real food most of the time. If that's you and you feel good, coaching is a luxury, not a need. Save your money.
Here's where we'd tell you to wait or go elsewhere first:
- You have an active eating disorder or a history of one. That belongs with a licensed therapist and a registered dietitian, not a coaching plan built around numbers.
- You're in a crisis month. New baby, job loss, a death in the family. Habit change needs bandwidth you don't have right now.
- You haven't had bloodwork in years and you're mostly worried about one specific symptom. Get the labs first so the plan isn't guesswork.
- You want someone to do it for you. We can build the map, but you're the one walking it.
And one more. If you're only here because a friend swears by it, but you don't want to change anything yet, that's fine. Wanting it matters more than any protocol we could write. Come back when you do.
We see this every week in the Southside office, folks come in apologizing for not being ready. You don't owe anyone an apology. Readiness is a real prerequisite, not a character flaw. Sometimes the most useful thing we do in a first conversation is tell someone to go handle one other thing first.

Preparing for Your First Coaching Session
Most people walk in thinking they need to have their act together first. You don't., the messier your last six months have been, the more useful that first hour is. We're not grading you. We're building a starting line.
Here's what helps before your first Health Coaching session at our Point Meadows office near St. Johns Town Center. Nothing on this list takes long.
- Write down three days of normal eating. Not perfect days. Normal ones, fast food included.
- Bring any recent bloodwork you have, even if it's a year old and you don't understand it.
- List your medications and supplements. Doses too, if you know them.
- Think about your sleep. What time you fall asleep, and how many times you wake up.
- Name one thing you want back. Energy at 3 p.m. Fitting into a specific pair of jeans. Keeping up on a walk.
That last one matters more than the rest combined. Goals like "be healthier" give us nothing to work with. Goals like "stop crashing after lunch" give us a target we can measure against.
If you're adding testing, come in fasted and skip the workout that morning. DEXA+ body composition scan and RMR testing both read cleaner that way. Wear something you can move in and leave the heavy jewelry at home. We see this every week, someone shows up straight from the gym and the numbers come back skewed.
Expect questions about stress. Real ones. Your job, your caregiving load, what happens in your house between 6 and 9 p.m. Jacksonville commutes off Butler Boulevard eat evenings alive, and a plan that ignores that will fail by week three.
You'll leave with a written starting point. Not a fifty-page binder. A few things to do, in order, with a date to check back.

How a Coaching Plan Comes Together
Nobody builds you a plan on day one. We start by measuring. That's the whole difference, and it's why the second month usually looks nothing like what you expected walking in.
Here's the order we work in.
- We sit down and talk. Sleep, stress, work hours, what you've already tried, what fell apart and why.
- We get your baseline numbers. DEXA+ body composition scan for fat, lean mass, and visceral fat. Comprehensive bloodwork. RMR testing to see what your body burns at rest.
- We add PNOE VO2 Max testing when cardiovascular fitness matters to your goal. Epigenetics testing when you want the longer view.
- We build the Health Blue Print from those numbers, not from a template.
- We check in, adjust, and re-measure. Data drifts. So does life.
That RMR number surprises people more than anything else. We see it every single week. Someone's been eating 1,200 calories for a year, convinced they're doing everything right, and their resting metabolic rate says their body has quietly downshifted to protect itself. No amount of willpower fixes that. But knowing it changes the plan immediately.
Our Point Meadows studio near St. Johns Town Center keeps the scanning, testing, and coaching under one roof. So you're not driving across town chasing lab results, and we're not waiting three weeks to make a decision about your plan.
Wondering what your own baseline would say? Most people are a little off about at least one of their numbers.
And the plan stays open. We revisit it because your first eight weeks teach us things no intake form ever will - what you'll do on a Tuesday night, which changes hold, which ones quietly get dropped.
