10-Point Assessment
Float Therapy in Jacksonville
What is Float Therapy?
Float Therapy is most commonly referred to as sensory deprivation therapy because it allows all five senses to rest. We simply call it floating! At our studio we put you in control of your session. We don’t believe you have to remove all sensory inputs entirely to experience benefits. This may mean you like to have the pool lights on or off, ceiling lights on or off, or just go for it and be in pure darkness!
We make the question of music or no music easy because in our experience people do best with no music. We also are licensed to have 2 people per tank, so you may float with a partner, if that is what make you feel most comfortable. We just want you to develop your float practice.
What to Expect
1. Arrival & Orientation
2. Setting Your Space
Each float suite is completely private, allowing you to control your environment. Choose your comfort level, lights on or off, music or pure silence, solo or with a partner. You’re in charge of every detail of your session. We recommend you wear loose, comfortable clothing for ease of getting dressed after your float.
3. The Float Experience
As you settle into the warm, buoyant Epsom salt solution, your body effortlessly drifts into weightlessness. Within minutes, muscles release tension, your breathing slows, and your mind begins to quiet. Most clients experience deep relaxation and even lose track of time, emerging refreshed and re-centered.
4. After Your Float
Whether it’s your first Float or your fiftieth, every session is an invitation to rest more deeply, recover more fully, and reconnect with yourself. We highly recommend floating 3 times to develop your float practice. The first time is a new experience and you in a learning phase. The second time you focus inward and evaluate the sounds and feelings of your body. By your third Float, you are free to easily get into full relaxation mode and completely surrender to what our body needs. You may fall asleep, you may solve problems you are working on, you may recall important information, only you know what that float will bring you.
The Science of Floating
Float therapy is grounded in decades of scientific research under the term REST, Reduced Environmental Stimulation Therapy. Studies from leading institutions such as the Laureate Institute for Brain Research, Karlstad University in Sweden, and the National Institutes of Health have shown that floating can produce profound effects on both body and mind.
When you float, your body becomes weightless, relieving pressure from joints and muscles, improving circulation, and supporting natural alignment. The high magnesium content of the Epsom salt solution helps ease muscle tension, support detoxification, and replenish essential minerals. Meanwhile, your brain shifts from high-frequency beta waves (associated with stress and activity) into restorative theta-wave states, the same deeply meditative rhythm linked with creativity, emotional release, and healing.

Why Float Regularly at Be Still in Jacksonville
Just like exercise or meditation, the benefits of float therapy build over time. A single session can reset your nervous syste, but floating regularly helps retrain it to stay in balance. Clients who float consistently report deeper sleep, fewer stress responses, faster recovery after workouts, and improved focus throughout the week.
Each float gently conditions the brain to enter restorative theta states more easily, creating a powerful shift from “fight or flight” into “rest and restore.” Over time, this repeated relaxation response strengthens resilience, supports emotional regulation, and improves overall well-being.
With more than 10,000 floats provided, we’ve seen how making floating a regular ritual, whether weekly, biweekly, or monthly, becomes one of the simplest and most effective ways to support long-term health, creativity, and peace of mind.
